THERAPIES
At Oak Tree, our Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) Teams work closely with teachers and support staff to help every pupil develop the communication, regulation, and life skills they need to succeed at school and beyond.
We help pupils build independence, confidence, and skills for the future by making therapy a natural part of everyday learning. Rather than being a separate session, our support is woven into lessons, social activities, and real-life experiences, so every child can grow and thrive in all areas of school life.
How Therapy Works at Oak Tree
Therapy at Oak Tree is embedded across the school with all pupils having access to Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy at point of need, rather than solely based on what is on their EHCP.
There are three levels of Therapeutic Input at Oak Tree:
- Universal – Support available to all students, this includes embedded teaching of therapy strategies, a Total Communication Approach and Communication and Sensory Friendly Environment, staff trained in communication or sensory strategies and parent trainings.
- Targeted / Enhanced – Additional class group or small group interventions for specific students, examples include gross and fine motor groups, handwriting support, speech and language groups.
- Specialist – Some students with complex presentations may need blocks of short-term one-to-one therapy delivered by the Therapy Teams for a particular need or area of development. These therapy sessions are used to introduce and develop new skills before supporting students to transition the skills to the classroom environment and home.
