Oak Tree School has been approved by the Department for Education into the ‘pre-opening phase’.

When an application for a Free School is approved and the proposed provision enters the pre-opening phase, the Academy Trust is required to inform the local community and other stakeholders of their plans and allow people to respond. This is an expectation under Section 10 of the Academies Act 2010.

For our school to open, there will need to be a contract between our provision and the Department for Education (DfE). This is called a Funding Agreement and is a standard document used by all academies which details the key aspects of the trust’s responsibilities and how the provision will function. If this consultation is not carried out adequately, the Funding Agreement will not be signed.

Maiden Erlegh Trust is consulting on its proposals to open a new special free school for Reading Borough Council and Wokingham Borough Council in September 2022.

Maiden Erlegh Trust is delivering a six-week period of statutory consultation starting at 12:00 noon, Monday 7 June 2021. The consultation will run until 12:00 noon, Monday 19 July 2021.

This consultation is important, and we are interested to hear from all stakeholders in relation to our plans for the school.
